About Malabrigo
(merino wool yarn I use)
They are a family-owned yarn company located in Uruguay and Peru. They hand dye their own yarn. Malabrigo employs mostly women of all ages. They try to give jobs to people who have fewer opportunities than the average individual. Their wool is produced by Uruguayan farms that allow their sheep to free-range. They are herded through the hills by old - style shepherds. They do not practice mulesing in Uruguay. Mulesing is the painful practice of cutting skin from the lambs’ hindquarters with shears to address problems caused by breeding them to produce excessive amounts of wool. When using Merino wool of a different origin, they take care to ensure that it is also mulesing-free.
Meet the Maker
Hi, I’m Rebecca. I am so happy you are here! I am a wife and mama of 6 living in central MA. I love crocheting and knitting! My mother taught me the basics of crochet at a young age. I taught myself how to knit a few years ago with the help of YouTube. I decided to turn my love of crochet and knitting into a business, so here we are! Starting Enchanted Yarn Co. has been so exciting! I can’t wait to see it grow!
Enchanted Yarn Co. Gives Back
I am passionate about giving back to the community by helping those with food insecurity. According to the USDA, about 34 million people live in food-insecure households. An estimated 9 million children live in food-insecure households. One of the ways Enchanted Yarn Co. helps is by giving 6% of proceeds to the Worcester County Food Bank. They are a local (central MA) community food bank that is part of the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks. Together we can make a difference in our community!
